Historical Museum of Sagunto

Located on Castle Street, the house of Mestre Penya houses the Historical Museum of the City. With a Gothic floor plan, next to the Jewish Quarter, it is an obligatory access to the Roman Theater and the Castle. It is a Gothic building from the 14th century in which the medieval market was located. It is a two-story space where you can see the evolution of urban planning in the city. Its interior contains a good sample of the important collection of archaeological pieces from excavations and findings that have been made in the castle, the urban area and the surrounding area. Its collection of Latin epigraphy is one of the most important in Spain. 💡 Curiosities There are also inscriptions with Iberian and Hebraic characters; mosaics with varied decoration. One of the most important works is the Iberian Bull, a sculpture made in limestone from the 4th century BC. 🗺 How to get there?
